Kitchen by Verra Membrix system
The Science — Membrix™

6 layers between your tap and your food.

Membrix is the patented water conditioning technology inside Kitchen by Verra. Developed at MIT, IIT Jammu, and IIT Kanpur. No electricity. No waste.

What is Membrix

Membrix is a water conditioning platform. Not a filter in the way you think of filters. It is a multi-layer treatment system where each layer does a specific job. For the kitchen product, 6 unique layers work together to target bacteria, viruses, chlorine residues, and sediment. The water that comes out is conditioned, clean, and verrafied.

The technology was developed by Professor Rohit Karnik at MIT and co-founded with Dhananjay Goel. The research team includes two additional PhDs, a full lab, and scientists across IIT Jammu and IIT Kanpur. Patented, peer-reviewed, and engineered specifically for Indian water conditions.

Membrix for Kitchen

6-Layer Conditioning

The Kitchen by Verra system uses 6 unique layers of conditioning. Each layer targets a specific category of contaminant. Bacteria and viruses are addressed. Chlorine residues are reduced. Sediment is physically removed. The water that washes your fruit, your vegetables, your plates, and your utensils comes out cleaner and safer.

No electricity. No water wastage. No drainage pipe. The system runs on the natural pressure of your home water supply.

Membrix for Bath

25-Layer Conditioning

The bath and shower product (coming soon) uses 25 layers of adaptive water conditioning. It is a more extensive system designed for the larger volume and different contaminant profile of bathing water. Chlorine, hardness, and sediment are all addressed across the 25-layer cascade.

Same science. More layers. Different water moment.

What Membrix does and what it does not

Full transparency. Not marketing claims. Actual facts.

Targets

Bacteria and viruses.

Reduces

Chlorine residues (Indian municipal water is treated with chlorine and contains significant levels).

Removes

Sediment and visible impurities.

Membrix is not an RO system. It does not remove dissolved salts or TDS the way reverse osmosis does. For kitchen water, Membrix targets the things that actually matter for the food and surfaces your water touches: bacteria, viruses, chlorine, and sediment.

The honest comparison: RO removes nearly everything, including minerals your body uses, and wastes three litres for every one it keeps. Membrix conditions water intelligently and wastes nothing.

No electricity. No waste. By design.

Most water systems need a power socket and a drainage pipe. Membrix needs neither. The technology was built to work passively using the natural pressure of your home water supply. No motors, no electricity bill, no wasted water.

The verrafied proof

Every Kitchen by Verra ships with two home water test strips. The first tests for chlorine. The second tests for bacteria. Two tests, two answers, two reasons to trust what Membrix is doing. If your water tests unclean after passing through Membrix, you get a full refund. We put the proof in the box because you should never have to take our word for it.

Professor Rohit Karnik and the Membrix team

The team

Professor Rohit Karnik leads one of the most respected water research labs in the world at MIT. The Membrix team includes two additional PhDs and a full lab, with research spanning MIT, IIT Jammu, and IIT Kanpur.

Karnik co-founded Membrix with DJ Goel to bring the science out of the lab and into the home. The technology in your kitchen was designed across three of the best engineering institutions in the world.

What comes next

Kitchen is the beginning. The 25-layer Membrix system for bathing and shower water is in development. Baby care and drinking water products will follow. For now, the kitchen is where it starts.
